Ford has a winner with the imported Focus. The European Focus was a good driving car with great handling.
The Focus with its European styling looks sharp from any angle, its crisp lines refreshing, and its shape athletic.
The handling is always a positive with the 2010 Focus. On the road it is a pleasant driver, with a responsive engine and composed chassis.
The five door hatch offers the modern practicality and is quite roomy for its external dimensions.
The petrol engine was a 2.0-litre four that has all the punch needed in a car of its size with the 4 speed automatic transmission and doesn’t break the bank when you pull up at the pump. It peaked at 107 kW at 6000 revs and 185 Nm at 4500 revs.
The suspension was independent all round, with Macpherson Struts at the front and Ford's 'Control Blade' system at the rear.
This new generation LX Focus features Bluetooth, cruise control, aircon, power windows and mirrors, four-speaker sound and front fog lights, antilock brakes as well as alloy wheels, side airbags and more.
Safety was also well covered with ABS braking with electronic brakeforce distribution, traction control, and front and side airbags, and reversing sensors.
ANCAP gave the Focus five stars
The Focus appears to be standing up quite well and owners are reporting few problems. Those problems that are reported are of an individual nature rather than widespread.
