Ranger set to shake up rivals with Tremor
Following the success of the Ranger Wildtrak X, Ford Australia is introducing an off road focused Tremor. Limited to 1150 units, it’s priced from $69,690 plus on-roads, and is already available to order. First customer deliveries are expected in September.
Powered by a 150kW/500Nm 2.0-litre bi-turbo diesel engine and 10-speed automatic transmission, the Tremor shares its driveline with the aforementioned X variant, and requires the use of AdBlue diesel exhaust fluid.
That aside, it features a full-time four-wheel drive (4WD) system, including 4A mode, and benefits from Ford’s trail turn assist, for improved manoeuvrability off road. That capability is further enhanced with the inclusion of a rock crawl drive mode, and trail control.
Sporting a maximum braked towing capacity of 3,500kg, the Tremor features 17-inch Asphalt Black alloys, General Grabber AT3 all-terrain tyres, and wheel arch mouldings. A 30mm increased track width is paired with Bilstein position-sensitive dampers with external reservoirs.
New springs, in conjunction with the tyres, deliver 26mm in total additional ground clearance, and heavy duty electronic power assisted steering. Tremor badging and styling, including 3D tailgate badging, embossed seats, front and rear black Ford oval badges, and a Conquer Grey hero colour add to the look.
There’s also an overhead auxiliary switch bank. Further additions include a honeycomb grille with auxiliary grille LED lamps, front steel bash plate, cast aluminium side steps, long-legged sports bar, and all-weather front and rear floor mats.
Buyers can also add a Touring Pack, flexible rack system, manual roller shutter, and have the option to remove the auto stop/start function. For more information, contact your local Ford dealership.
