Set to go on sale before Christmas, the ID. Buzz will be priced below the threshold for Australia’s luxury car tax, with the new halo models set to arrive at a price point considerably less than the most optimistic expectations.

The cargo van is set to be offered from $79,990 and the people mover from $87,990 (both plus on-roads), with variants arriving in a staggered roll out. By the end of the year, the ID. Buzz Pro will be available in short wheelbase, five seater format or as a long wheelbase seven seater.

The range topping GTX (7-seats), which features all-wheel drive and enhanced performance, arrives in early 2025. The ID. Buzz Cargo is a three seat, short wheelbase van with the capacity to carry two pallets. Across the announced variants, there are almost 7,000 expressions of interest already.

“Many Australians have a deep emotional and historical connection with Volkswagen vans and people movers,” commercial vehicles director Ryan Davies said. “We’re delighted to deliver the highly desirable BEV reinventions of those classics.”

“Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles’ first fully electric range gives us a capability to supply families and fleets alike with a vehicle that has been highly anticipated,” Mr Davies added.

In addition to the prices outlined above, the Volkswagen ID. Buzz (people mover) in its seven seat long wheelbase form will be priced at $91,290, with the GTX long wheelbase 4MOTION at $109,990 (both plus on-roads). Further information is available from your local Volkswagen dealer.
