Set to be offered in two trim levels at launch, including a 250kW VZ and 210kW Endurance variant, Cupra's new Tavascan electric SUV will arrive four months ahead of schedule. It follows on from the Born hatch, a performance EV.

Designed and developed in Barcelona and built in Volkswagen's state of the art factory in Anhui, China, the VZ Tavascan is set to be a dual-motor all-wheel drive offering, while the Endurance comes in rear-wheel drive.

“The Tavascan takes CUPRA’s BEV offer into the SUV segment with a vehicle that’s designed to be dramatic and emotional from the ground up,” CUPRA Australia director Ben Wilks said.

“With its progressive and emotional approach to the SUV coupe segment, head-turning exterior lighting, a uniquely-CUPRA interior, and an all-new immersive sound system from Sennheiser, the Tavascan elevates the all-electric SUV coupe to new heights,” he added.

“Boasting impressive performance figures and dynamic driving experience, it’s every bit as great behind the wheel as it is to look at.”

Australia is one of the first markets in the world to receive the Tavascan, with potential customers able to register their interest online.
