To keep up with its newly launched rivals, like the JAC Motors T9, one of Australia’s most popular affordable utes, the LDV T60, has undergone significant lifecycle revisions, including a refreshed look inside and out, and the addition of multi-link rear suspension.

It also scores a new range topping model, known as the T60 Max Plus, which scores a 12.3-inch central touchscreen, 12.3-inch driver instrument cluster, lockable tailgate, heated and power-folding side mirrors, and electric power steering and park brake.

In addition, autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are now standard on automatic transmission models.

At its heart remains the 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder bi-turbo diesel engine delivering 160kW and 500Nm. Its small block design and electronically controlled, high-pressure common rail technology, along with remapped engine software, ensure more linear delivery.

The 8-speed ZF auto gearbox maps and learns driving characteristics. Fuel consumption averages out at 9.3-litres/100km for the manual and 8.9 for the auto. That new suspension provides improved control, with better ride and increased payload.

The intelligent real-time torque on demand system (providing a rear diff lock when needed), delivers maximum traction automatically. The driver can also manually select high-speed 2WD, high-speed 4WD and low-speed 4WD for tough off-road conditions.

LED daytime running lights, front and rear parking sensors and 360-degree panoramic camera, and a fatigue reminder are part of an improved safety package, that also includes electronic brake assist and hill descent control.

The T60 Max Plus also has a repositioned column-mounted gearshift that creates additional storage space in the central tunnel, making room for a raised wireless charging pad to sit alongside the 2WD and 4WD high/low selector. There are three USB ports.

In the tray, a spray-in tub liner keeps the bed protected from wear and tear, while four tie-down points help to secure loads. Payload for the manual is 840kg and 830kg for the auto, and both have a max braked towing capacity of 3,000kg.

ABN holder pricing begins at $45,990 for the manual, $47,990 for the automatic, and $49,490 for the Megatub automatic (800kg payload) – all drive away. All LDV T60s come with a 7-year or 200,000km warranty and 5-year unlimited kilometre roadside assist.
