The performance-focused Z NISMO has become a standard Nissan model, and to celelbrate, the Japanese car maker went a little crazy, letting the iconic sports car loose on one of the country’s most challenging hill climbs.

“As soon as we saw the pent-up demand for the Nissan Z NISMO, and the speed at which our first allocation was exhausted, we knew there would be fans of this iconic vehicle who had missed out on securing one for themselves,” Nissan Australia managing director Andrew Humberstone said.

As for that hill climb, Lake Mountain is one of Australia’s most-celebrated roads, and a favourite for performance-car testing, owing to the number and variety of corners along its 20km length.

Climbing from Marysville in Victoria to the top of the Cathedral Range State Park, it’s also a road that could have been tailor-made for the Nissan Z NISMO, with demanding tarmac, challenging corners and plenty of surfaces for the rich exhaust note to roar.

Powered by an improved 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged petrol V6 offering 309kW and 520Nm, the Nissan Z NISMO features a tuned 9-speed automatic with paddle shifters, wider and lighter wheels, bigger brakes and enhanced engine cooling.

Elsewhere, aerodynamic enhancements, a new Sport+ driving mode, tuned launch control, model specific suspension and anti-roll bars, and NISMO branded Recaro seats (which miss out on heating and power adjustment) complete the perfect performance package.

Priced at $94,000 plus on-roads, you can find out more from your local Nissan dealer or by visiting their website.
