A luxury 7-seater, this latest addition to Chery's TIGGO family arrives with a promise to deliver an unparalleled driving experience, blending luxury, performance, and advanced technology, and as we set out on our first drive from the city to the ocean, all we can say is wow.

The cabin feels more like a Mercedes-Benz than what you might expect from a Chinese car maker. The view from inside is equally impressive, with great forward visibility, and plenty of tech to keep you on the road.

We ventured onto the Old Pacific Highway for some proper winding road testing, and while road noise is minimal, the ride is definitely a little soft and could do with some stiffer suspension to soak up the corners.

The TIGGO 8 PRO Max will be available in three trim levels; Urban, Elite, and Ultimate, with all offering customers a range of options to suit their preferences and lifestyle. Each variant comes with a powerful and efficient 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine.

Chery's most potent petrol engine to date, it produces 180kW of power and 375Nm of torque. Paired with a smooth-shifting 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, this SUV delivers impressive performance while maintaining fuel efficiency (8.5-litres/100km).

Tiggo 8 Pro Max

"We are thrilled to introduce the TIGGO 8 PRO Max to the Australian market," Chery Australia CEO Lucas Harris said at the launch.

"With its blend of luxury, performance, and advanced features, we are confident that the TIGGO 8 PRO Max will exceed expectations and offer exceptional value to drivers."

Inside you'll find quilted synthetic leather seats with memory, and a similarly attired solid-feeling steering wheel. This is paired with a premium Sony sound system with up to 10 speakers (depending on variant), and multi-colour ambient lighting for the first two rows.

An air quality system automatically recirculates internal air when high PM2.5 levels are detected outside, ensuring a pristine cabin environment. It's an impressive setup for a car that kicks off at $41,990 drive away (Urban trim).

Huge dual 12.3-inch HD LCD display screens take centre stage for both drier and infotainment, with built-in sat-nav, and wireless and wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and voice control.

As you might expect, safety features are solid too, including multiple airbags, and a range of advanced driver assistance systems, including adaptive cruise control and autonomous emergency braking.

Design wise, Chery's signature diamond point grille, stylish alloy wheels, quad exhaust tips, and LED head and tail-lights complete the look, with the TIGGO 8 PRO Max available in eight colours, including Loran Violet and Rhine Blue.

All-in-all, our short drive program showed that this 7-seat SUV offers plenty for the price (with the Elite at $43,990 drive away and the range topping Ultimate at $47,990 drive away). The latter is the only variant with all-wheel drive.

A 7-year unlimited kilometre warranty and similar length capped price servicing and roadside assistance complete an impressive offering, with more information available from the brand's Australian website, or by talking to your local dealership.
