This is the 7^th generation of Mitsubishi’s famous line of Lancer Evolution turbo AWD sedans. These vehicles are road going versions of the very successful Mitsubishi Lancer rally cars of the time. This particular car is the GT-A variant, which was the first EVO to be offered with an automatic transmission.

It has the very capable 2.0 Litre 4G63 DOHC 4 cylinder turbocharged engine, which is mates to a 5 speed sports automatic transmission with steering wheel mounted shift buttons. The 5-speed automatic gearbox is what Mitsubishi called ‘fuzzy logic’ which means that the car learns what the drivers characteristics are like and adapts the gear change timings and kick down reactions accordingly. On top of all this, is the security of constant All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) with front &rear diffs, active centre diff & Active Yaw Control for on road traction & extra security (when needed) on those wet slippery roads.
