1996 Land Rover Range Rover 4D WAGON HSE

The P38A (internally referred to as ‘LP’ at Land Rover) was the second generation of the legendary Range Rover line and represented a significant leap forward over its “Classic” predecessor in terms of styling, refinement, cabin ergonomics, off-road capability, safety, and technology. It was code-named after the building in which its engineering development took place at Land Rover headquarters in Solihull, England – Block P38A.

This 1995 4.6 HSE was the range-topping model at launch and remains a rare and highly sought-after vehicle today. Built in October 1995, this particular example was Australian-complied in March 1996 and delivered new by Manning Valley Motors Land Rover in Taree, NSW. It has had just one owner from new in Port Macquarie before being acquired by us.

Meticulously maintained throughout its life, the vehicle’s first 1,500km service was completed by the original selling dealer, and from that point onward, it was exclusively serviced by John Patrick Prestige in Port Macquarie up to 194,253km. The low mileage is supported by a comprehensive and up-to-date logbook service history, making this a rare survivor in outstanding condition.

This P38A stands apart from most examples on the market, not only due to its low mileage, but also because of its remarkable originality and presentation, both inside and out. As the flagship model, it was specified with an impressive list of luxury and technology features for the time, including:

o Electric front seats (driver’s seat with memory)
o Electric sunroof
o Climate control
o Harman/Kardon 10-speaker sound system with CD stacker

Naturally, it also retains Land Rover’s legendary off-road capability, with:

o Electronically-controlled air suspension (working perfectly, with selectable drive modes)
o Low-range transmission, accessed via the H-pattern gate on the gear lever

Under the bonnet, the 4.6-litre injected V8 delivers 157kW and 358Nm, paired with a 4-speed ZF automatic transmission sending power to all four wheels. The engine remains strong and responsive, performing just as it did when new.

Included with the vehicle are the original owner’s wallet, two keys, all original manuals, and the service logbook.
